Role overview
We are looking for a part-time Data Protection Officer (DPO) based in Croatia to join our expanding Regulatory Compliance team. You will serve as the cornerstone of our privacy services, helping clients achieve GDPR compliance while also ensuring our own internal data practices are held to the highest standard.
This is a strategic role with the potential to grow into a full-time position within 6 months as the company scales.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the designated DPO for EU Presence and/or its clients under Article 37 of the GDPR.
- Monitor compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws and internal policies.
- Advise on data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and risk mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a contact point for supervisory authorities and data subjects.
- Draft and review privacy policies, consent notices, and data processing agreements (DPAs).
- Conduct audits, staff training, and internal assessments.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving privacy laws (including DSA, NIS2) and advise clients accordingly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, product, tech) to embed privacy-by-design practices.
Requirements
- Based in Croatia (required).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or related compliance roles.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR, and familiarity with DSA, NIS2, and other EU regulations is a plus.
- Experience working with or advising multiple clients or projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote, startup environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- CIPP/E or similar privacy certifications (preferred but not required).
